The Teller Pantry Friends (formerly Teller Backpack Friends) Program is a not-for-profit, 501(c)3 charity dedicated to providing living essentials to current Teller students, their families and school staff. We believe all members of the Teller community should have access to nutritious food, personal care items and basic cleaning supplies. The Teller Pantry allows for access to these items with no questions asked. Our goal is provide the Teller community with free choice and increased pride and dignity. During these tough times, we are still operating with the support of the school, our volunteers, the community, and the Food Bank of the Rockies.

An amazing moment from the past year was when the Santos family of Congress Park showed up with a trailer full of food collected in a community food drive they sponsored. They also made a generous donation to help us carry on in the coming year.

We are incredibly grateful for the generosity and flexibility of everyone involved while we figured out how we would deal with the changing environment every month, week, or day.

Hunger is a global epidemic that is growing every year. Only this statistic isn’t global. This statistic isn’t foreign in any way, or even national. This is happening in our own neighborhood, in our own backyard.

1 in 5 children in Colorado does not know where their next meal will come from. 1 in 4 children in the U.S. could face hunger this year because of the coronavirus.

This is happening in our own neighborhood, in our own backyard. Hunger is a neighbor, a friend, a teammate, a classmate.  Hunger is a brother, a sister, a smiling face when walking that lets you know your home.

Among all Colorado children, those under the age of 6  have the highest risk of living in homes with little or no food. The Teller Backpack Friends Program was created to ensure no Teller student faces these issues.

We can fight this growing issue, and we can ensure that no child in our community goes hungry. Helping one another is what this community was built on, it is what we do.
